We are Hiring for the Spring 2023 Semester!

Editor-in-Chief: Roxanne Hepburn

Email: rhepburn@umassd.edu

Calling all UMD students!

The Torch is currently recruiting writers for the spring semester. We have a wide variety of volunteer and paid positions available.

Volunteer writers can choose when and how often they write with minimal deadlines. You work at your own pace in a stress-free environment to build your writing skills.

Volunteer writers are invited to start ASAP!

Staff writers are a paid position. The current wage for staff writers is $14.50 an hour. You would be expected to attend weekly meetings and commit to writing at least one article per week. It comes out to about 3 hours of work each week.

You would be expected to volunteer write at least one article before we move forward with the hiring process for the spring.

Comics writers can either volunteer or become staff just like our typical article writers. Volunteers can send in unique stand-alone works. But, you also have the option to join our staff and create a weekly comic series!

Our staff comic writers have the same wage of $14.50 an hour, with an expected 3 hours a week.

As a writer for us, you won’t be confined to just writing about one specific topic, we encourage our writers to break out of their shells and write outside of their comfort zone.

If you are interested in any of these positions or have any questions please feel free to reach out to me at rhepburn@umassd.edu.

Make sure to fill out our application and join our discord as well to stay up to date on everything!

Please attend our weekly meeting, Wednesdays at 6:30PM in LARTS 117 if you would like to join our team!

Applications close November 10th. You will have another week to submit volunteer articles (for staff writer applicants). We will be submitting our finalized new hire list on November 30th.
