For a limited time, Google is hosting the Internship Information Sessions at UMass Dartmouth.

These hour-long sessions will be held every Tuesday in the Welcome Center on the Ground Floor in the Blue & Gold Room of the Campus Center.

Attended by Google engineers, technical recruiters, and former interns, these individuals have already provided valuable information to UMass Dartmouth students wondering which technical positions and internships Google has made available to them.

Attendees so far were also instructed on what the company looks for on a resume or in a technical interview.

Each session has been streamed online via YouTube Live, an interactive platform that allows the sessions to be streamed live via YouTube.

Watching a YouTube Live stream is the same as watching a YouTube video, only the video is being broadcast live. Viewers can chat and ask questions to the presenters in real time.

This means that you have to tune in live at the time of the event in order to participate in the stream.

The first Google-hosted session was held from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on October 11 and was titled “Applying to Google: Technical Resume Tips with Google Recruiters”.

This session served to inform students who had applied or considered applying for a Google internship on how to make their technical resumes stand out to Google’s recruiters.

Several of the company’s recruiters attended the session to provide tips and answer questions from the audience.

Two more sessions, both entitled “Meet a Google Engineer: Life at Google: Opportunities and How to Apply”, were held last week on October 18.

The sessions lasted from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., respectively.

Both sessions covered what a typical day in the life of a Google engineer is like and how students can apply for an internship at the company.

A Google software engineer was in attendance to show the audience some of the projects that the company’s engineers and interns are currently working on.

The YouTube Live streams of all sessions are currently unavailable for viewing, but links may be provided at a later date for those unable to attend.

In the forthcoming weeks, two final sessions will be held: “Applying to Google: How to Ace the Technical Interview” on October 25 and “Applying to Google: #WomenInTech, Creating an Inclusive Environment” on November 8.

The October 25 session will inform aspiring Google interns on how to conduct themselves during the interview process, tips that can be useful for anyone currently job-searching, while the November 8 session will cover the issue of gender diversity in the workplace.

Both sessions will last from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on their respective dates.

Like the previous three sessions, Google employees will be in attendance once again to talk with the audience.

If you have any questions or concerns about any of the sessions, please contact Colleen M. Wetterland, Career Development Center, at cwetterland@umassd.edu or (508) 999-8659.
