UMass Dartmouth welcomed home alumni this past weekend October 25 through October 27, 2019 for the annual Homecoming Weekend. The events coincided with the University Fall Family Festival October 26 to showcase a full day of what UMass Dartmouth has to offer.
Homecoming Weekend kicked off with a Reception in the University Club at 4 PM on Friday and was followed by a 32nd Annual Corsair Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Woodland Commons. Krista Chauvin ’14, indoor and outdoor track and field, socor; Nicole Castonguay Maher, head coach, field hockey 2006-14; Tom Mendell, head coach, men’s tennis, 2003-14; Eli Munkohlm ’99, baseball; Dr. Jeremy Stern, UMassD Athletics team physician; and the 2009 Field Hockey Team were all recognized.
On Saturday October 27, the University Quad housed Fall Family Festival and the Alumni Festival from 11 AM – 3 PM with lounge tent, live music, food, photo booths and games. Arnie flowed through the crowds of people as they enjoyed performances by the Live & Uncut Step Team, UMassD Cheerleaders, UMD Theatre Company, Belly Dance, Mental Note, Karate Club, Pan African Dance Team, Multicultural Greek Council, 20 Cent Fiction, and the Dance Team.
The UMass Dartmouth Alumni Band performed on the patio from 12 to 1 and 2 to 3 for all audiences to sit and enjoy. While these acts were happening, children were treated to face painting, pumpkin decorating, give aways and more lead by the SAIL office and numerous student organizations.
Admission to this event also included admission to all Saturday activities, all you can eat food, and a cashbar lounge tent (formally known as the Alumni Tent). Other events that day included: Women’s Filed Hockey Alumnae Game and Reception, Women’s Tennis Alumnae Round Robin, Women’s Soccer versus Western Connecticut State Colonials, Men’s Lacrosse Alumni Game, Ice Hockey Alumni Game, Football against the Worcester State Lancers, and Field Hockey against the University of Southern Maine Huskies.
The weekend closed out on Sunday with a Women’s Basketball Alumnae Game and Reception. All of the alumnae games were composed of former players. Hotel accommodations were made available at Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott New Bedford, Residence Inn Marriott, and Hampton Inn Westport.
