BVO is BVOver: Possible Citrus Soda Ingredient Ban by the FDA

The FDA has proposed a ban on brominated vegetable oil (BVO), a preservative used in citrus soda, due to its harmful health effects. Studies show BVO can cause heart damage, liver dysfunctions, fertility issues and is associated with cancer development. Some large beverage companies have already begun removing BVO from their products. The harmful ingredient is still present in several sodas in the market.
