Next week the Green Navigators are hosting a plethora of events to celebrate Earth day in style. One day dedicated to the Earth is simply not enough, which is why we are taking the whole week to celebrate our planet!
Kicking off the week, Monday April 22 we are hosting ‘Earth Day on The Patio’ from 10 A.M.-2 P.M. at the campus center patio. Additionally, we will be having a forest walk of the Green and Yellow trails on campus from 4-5 P.M. The campus trails are a perfect place to take a break from your busy schedules and reconnect with nature and your thoughts. What better way to celebrate the Earth than to be in it?
Next, on Tuesday there will be another Climate Cafe at 12:30 P.M. in the Campus Center.
If you’re looking to have thoughtful, informative conversations about climate change or need questions answered, this is the event for you.
Wednesday there will be two events, starting with a guest speaker, Lorraine Kaiser with the Climate Reality Project. She will be presenting Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project and how it has empowered ordinary people to become activists, from 4-5 P.M. in the Campus Center.
Shortly following will be a sustainable movie. Happening: A Clean Energy Project will be shown in the Library Room 207 from 7-8 P.M.
Another sustainable movie, One Big Home will be shown in the same room from 7-8pm. on Thursday.
This is particularly special because the filmmaker Thomas Bena will be in attendance to host a Q&A after the screening!
In honor of Arbor Day on Friday, we will be planting our very own hickory tree right outside Hickory Hall. Join us at 10 A.M. to help Hickory earn its name.
We will be closing up the week with a clothing swap, where you can make your old clothes someone else’s new clothes, and vice versa.
This event will be going on from 4-7 P.M. in the Campus Center Cafeteria.
If you want to celebrate Earth Day in style, this week is perfect for you. Join us to celebrate the wonders our planet provides us.
