When it comes to Star Wars, the news, subsequent movies, and shows that follow have recently been up and down.

In April 2025, two expected Star Wars are coming back, both exciting in their own ways.

There are not many Star Wars projects that exist without some sort of clash happening in the fanbase. Rarely are there any projects where most of the fanbase can agree on whether or not it was a good addition to the Star Wars saga.

That was until Star Wars released a political thriller/drama series following the character once released in the movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story named Cassian Andor. Creating the now ever-popular show aptly named Andor.

Released on September 21, 2022, the show was an unexpected addition to the saga, featuring a character that everyone had previously known who had a completed story as far as anyone was concerned.

In fact, no one was really asking for a show about this character.

Little did the fans know that the show would be one of the best pieces of Star Wars media to come out in a long time.

According to IMDb, the series performed exceptionally well out of the gates, scoring well on every episode, with the lowest score being 7.3/10.

Now, in April of 2025, the series is getting the much anticipated second season to complete the story of Andor and link up to the events depicted in the Rogue One movie.

As described by StarWars.com, “Season 2 will see the characters and their relationships intensify as the horizon of war draws near and Cassian becomes a key player in the Rebel Alliance. Everyone will be tested and, as the stakes rise, the betrayals, sacrifices and conflicting agendas will become profound.”

The trailer features the cast in the first season, plenty of action, beautiful landscapes, and many things to look forward to.

The second season is scheduled to come April 22, 2025, and each arc the show goes through will be released in a three-episode-per-arc scheme like the first season went through.

But this is not the only piece of recent Star Wars news.

It has recently come to light that the current President of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, has thought of retiring from her position after her contract runs out in 2025.

Kathleen Kennedy has been in power at Lucasfilm, the company responsible for putting out the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy of movies in the Star Wars story.

George Lucas, the creative genius who came up with the story in the first place, sold Disney the rights to Star Wars and a few other properties under the ownership of Lucasfilm for $4 billion.

Many have argued whether this was for better or for worse, considering all the other projects that have come out after the purchase.

As mentioned by Variety, “She is credited with reviving the property after successfully launching a sequel trilogy, beginning with 2015’s ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ as well as the critically acclaimed spinoff ‘Rogue One.’”

On top of this, the creation of Andor would have never happened without the help of Kennedy.

However, Kennedy is also responsible for the highly controversial sequel series, which has done nothing but tear apart the fan base for the beloved series and some other less noteworthy shows that came out later.

Many fans who disagreed with Kennedy’s use of the franchise even celebrated when the news came to light.

As of now, it has been reported that the recent talks of retirement have been nothing but “pure speculation.”

One final piece of Star Wars news to report is that the most liked prequel out of the series has returned to the theatres for its 20th anniversary.

Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, released in 2005, was the stunning and beloved conclusion to the prequel trilogy, featuring a satisfying conclusion to the story that created the original trilogy.

To this day, it is one of the most appreciated prequel movies and holds a special place in many fans’ hearts.

The movie is anticipated to come out once again in theatres on April 25th, 2025, with a brand new promotional poster coming with it.

Many avid fans can look forward to once again being able to view their favorite movie on the big screens. Some fans can finally see it on the big screen for the first time, creating hype all around.

With all that, there is much to look forward to in April. With the release of Andor Season 2 and the return of a fan favorite to the big screens, it appears that Star Wars is making its grand return.
