Boys soccer suffers a loss to Western CT

By Staff Writer Michaella Lesieur. The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth boys’ soccer team traveled away during homecoming weekend on October 20, 2018 against Western Connecticut. The team tried to fight for the win, but Western Connecticur unfortunately took it home. Western Connecticut took a lead from the start, scoring one goal in the first half of the game, leaving the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs with zero. However, during the second half, the Corsairs came back stronger and scored; although, the other team was not done and fired in three more goals. Although the Corsairs lost they still had some great game plays. For the game’s top highlights look over to junior Corsair Robert Dos Santos and senior Corsair Jake Moreira. During the second half UMass Dartmouth gained a free kick and Dos Santos sent it perfectly to his teammate, Moreira. Moreira has tallied three assists during his sophomore year in six total games. Moreira took over the ball from Dos Santos and lined it up perfectly to achieve and secure his second marker of the 2018 season. Dos Santos is definitely one to watch as he’s a Bristol Community College transfer and took home the title for the 2018 All-Region Team. Freshman goal keeper Chris Moussavi also stole the show as he made nine stops against Western Conneticut. For UMass Dartmouth in particular, Moussavi was named player of the week during his junior and senior years at John F. Kennedy high school three times. The final score put the nail in the coffin for UMass Dartmouth as Western Conneticut sophomore Daniel Szabo landed the ball right in net. However, the Corsairs are still not done as they will be looking for a win during their next game away from home. The next game they are tackling will be senior day and will take place at 1:00 p.m. against Newbury College. PHOTO COURTESY: CORSAIR ATHLETICS
