Karma is a b*tch, or is it Jojo Siwa?
At this point, we have all heard Jojo Siwa’s name once in our lives whether it be Dance Moms or her singing/YouTube career. Many fans have watched Jojo Siwa grow up since she was only nine when she was on Dance Moms.
However, as Jojo grew older she never left dance behind and used her spotlight from Dance Moms to start and grow her career and fandom.
Most people know Jojo Siwa as the girl who wears big sparkly bows on her head and has her hair in a side ponytail. But recently, Jojo has grown in the blink of an eye. She is now 20 and taking a turn and rebranding herself.
Almost everyone now has heard Jojo’s new song Karma, and if you haven’t heard it you may have seen clips of her new music video floating around on X or Instagram. With a whole new look and a new song, Jojo has entered her new era and doesn’t seem to be looking back.
However, if you’ve kept up with Jojo’s new song, you may have also seen the allegations against Jojo, including how she supposedly “stole” her new song, Karma, and that it isn’t original.
After scouring the internet long enough, some people were able to find a video of singer Brit Smith singing what seemed to be, at the time, Jojo’s song Karma word for word but still different from 2012. Quickly, this was brought to TikTok, and it blew up almost immediately.
Despite how bad this looked for Jojo, she claimed to not know who Brit Smith was and that she didn’t steal the song, and she’s not completely wrong.
Karma was written by Rock Mafia who also happens to be the name under the “produced by” of the song Karma by Jojo Siwa. Rock Mafia has also been known to write songs for other big artists like Justin Bieber, Green Day, and so many more. So at the end of the day, Jojo did not steal from Brit Smith.
However, this wasn’t the only scandal Jojo encountered this past month because, on top of Karma being “stolen,” Jojo showcased one of her new songs at a listening party for her new album—yes, she’s releasing an album.
In the clip, Jojo goes on to say that this song is about one of her exes and that it is called ‘Choose Your Fighter’. At first, fans were surprised because this song sounded good and the lyrics were good, but then fans and people on the internet started to realize that the song didn’t really sound like her.
And like the internet always does, they traced the song back to a TikTok who goes by Emeline who posted the video back in 2022. Immediately, like before, this blows up and allegations about Jojo and how she stole another song, but on top of that it seemed she played the version of Emeline singing it, and now Jojo.
After this blew up Emeline seemed to take to social media and quickly put out a statement saying that she was going to put a storytime out soon and that she didn’t sign the song off the Jojo.
As of right now, no, there isn’t a lot of information to go on about this one, and only time will tell what happened between Jojo, Emeline, and the song ‘Choose Your Fighter’.
At the end of the day, Jojo has been facing many allegations with her new rebrand, and she’s one of the top stories on the internet these days. Aside from the allegations, many people on the internet are also critiquing Jojo for things she’s said during interviews and judging her based on this.
I doubt this is the last time an allegation against her will be put out, and we will most definitely see her name trend on social media again. But if you didn’t know who Jojo Siwa was before this, you definitely do now. Any publicity is good publicity.
