If you’re a big fan of music and concerts, you know that music festivals are the highlight of every concert go-ers summer.
Many of you have heard of the infamous Coachella, one of the biggest (and priciest) music festivals that takes place in Indio, California. Coachella is known for having some of the best line-ups, having A-list singers headlines like Tyler, The Creator, Travis Scott, Bad Bunny, and even Harry Styles.
If you’re more familiar with what happens here in Massachusetts, you may have heard of Boston Calling, Boston’s biggest (and only) music festival. Boston Calling is also well known for having good headliners despite being a smaller festival in comparison to others. This year hosted Ed Sheeran and The Killers as headliners.
However, despite these two festivals being the biggest and closest, they aren’t the only ones worth checking out. If you keep up with music, what festivals happen around the US, or even one of the artists you like, you may have heard of Lollapalooza.
Lollapalooza, or Lolla, is well-known in the music community for having had insane lineups in the past, and this year is no exception. Tyler the Creator, Hozier, SZA, Stray Kids, The Killers, Future x Metro Boomin, Blink-182, Melanie Martinez, and Skrillex take the nine top spots for the four-day festival this year.
Aside from the amazing line-up, the rest do not disappoint. Huge names like Deftones, Kesha, Labrinth, and Pierce the Veil will be present. And even aside from the bigger artists, many smaller bands make the line-up to die for.
Every year, Lolla is held in Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois, right in the heart of the city and by the shore of Lake Michigan. Not to mention, the food catered at the festival is from different restaurants around Chicago, meaning no matter if you’re visiting from out of state, you can experience the different and unique food places around the city in one place over the course of four days.
Lollapalooza takes place from August 1st to the 4th this year, giving the event the perfect summer weather for everyone. The festival offers perfect weekend plans starting on a Thursday and ending on a Sunday.
Tickets for the full four days are around $400. Despite that sounding like a lot, for the amount of bands and artists you get to see, it’s a really good price. Tickets for Tyler, the Creator, The Killers, and SZA already amount to well over $400, so why not buy a four-day pass to a festival where you get all that and more?
However, there are options if you don’t want to go for the full four days. There are one- and two-day passes ranging from around $150 to $300. You can get either and still enjoy a full day of music without spending more and sticking it out the full four days.
Currently, Lollapalooza has only released the lineups for each day, meaning you can begin to plan now if you only want to go to see a certain band or artist for a day. As the event grows closer, stages and times will be released, allowing you to plan your trip according.
Despite being in Chicago, Lolla should be a bucket list festival for almost everyone. It features varying genres throughout the four days. The prices are a steal considering the bands and artists attending. What more could you ask for?
