Valentine’s Day. A national holiday observed as the holiday of love.
Some may say that the holiday is overrated and the best thing about the holiday is the 50 percent off chocolate the day after and ignore it completely.
Others may love it due to the supposed showering of gifts and affection from their significant other.
Well, Valentine’s day doesn’t have to feel overrated with a little help from our friends and some of the fun, different activities available.
Here are some ideas that you can do on the holiday of love.
First thing’s first, take the time to love you. Treat yourself to that mani-pedi , get that new shirt you really want to get, go get that big pretzel you’ve been craving, watch that movie that you’ve been itching to see. Do it because you’re worth it and you deserve it. Self-love is the most important love.
All of these treat-yourself activities can be found conveniently at the North Dartmouth Mall.
Another activity you can partake in is a friendship party.
A friendship party can range from cooking dinner together (or order in if you’re not ready to be on Master Chef), a movie and bake brownies night, or a byog (bring your own game) night with your best pals by your side.
You can exchange homemade Valentine’s Day cards with each other and celebrate the friendship between you and your friend group.
If you don’t feel like spending the night in, opt for a fun night out.
Skyzone located at 70 Pawtucket Ave, East Providence, Rhode Island, is open from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. for an active night of trampoline fun. Rates range from thirty minutes for $10.00 a person to 120 minutes for $25.00 a person.
If trampolines aren’t your thing, try to bowl your night into a fun one with a bowling night. Wonder Bowl, at 66 Hathaway Road in New Bedford is open from 9:00 a.m. to 11 p.m. Rates start at $18 an hour and a $3 shoe rental fee with up to six people per lane.
Play a round of mini golf with your besties. Ocean’s 18 located at 500 Kings Highway, New Bedford and is open from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Luckily Valentine’s day this year falls on a Tuesday, and Ocean’s 18 offers a great deal that day with their discounted $5 Tuesdays.
Play a round of mini golf for $5 per person! Just don’t forget to mention “$5 mini golf” at the counter.
Laser tag is always a fun idea, too. Lazer Gate located at 288 Plymouth Avenue, Fall River is open from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Lazer Gate is offering a pick-your-price laser tag/mini golf event from February 14-16.
Rates range from $5 for one game, $10 for two games, and $11 for three games, or $16 for an all-day pass. There is also an all-day everything pass for $35 per person which includes mini golf, laser tag, and the spin and bounce houses. Laser tag games are twenty minutes each with a twenty minute break in between each game.
Go out and find your inner Picasso at Painting With a Splash! located at 772 Purchase Street in New Bedford. On Feb. 14 they are offering a public special paint night themed “Date Night. Couples or singles paint each a side, singles pick a side.”
Plan with your friends to paint a 16×20 canvas with step-by-step instructions led by a skilled artist. You can combine this for a 32×40 final piece. All for $39 a person! Feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks to this fun night out!
Whether you spend the night with your friends in or out, the possibilities for your Valentine’s Day plans are endless.
So, enjoy your holiday of love with the people who you love the best!
