Skip the chocolate and flowers this Valentine’s Day and go for something a little more unique and creative. It does not have to cost a lot and actually it can be a whole lot cheaper than the whole flowers and chocolate scene. Whether you are shopping for your boyfriend/girlfriend, best friends or a special someone there is something that you can find here for everyone on your list.

GIFTS FOR YOUR BAE:
Breakfast by Candlelight—Let’s face it we are college students and don’t have the funds to splurge on a five course lobster and caviar meal. Instead of the top dollar meal settle on in and skip the heals/dress shoes, dress and suit for slippers and pajamas. Surprise them with their favorite breakfast foods, can I recommend: chocolate chip waffles, eggs benedict or scrambled eggs and home fries?!
His or Hers Valentine’s Day Special, Studio Vogue— Beat the rush of day to day life and settle on in with a His or Her’s spa package deal at Studio Vogue in Fall River. I have been going to Studio Vogue for all long as I can remember and not only are their services affordable but a luxury. For $45 dollars you can receive a chocolate petal pedicure, which includes chocolate covered strawberries and champagne for those 21 and up. This is the perfect V-day gift, a gift of relaxation.
A Jar Full of Dates— Put together a jar full of dates with gift cards and random coupons for each time you are planning a date. So instead of having one expensive night you can have a dozen of small dates that will be just as fun. Some ideas include: movie passes, ice skating tickets, restaurant gift cards and more.
His or Her Mugs— If your sweetheart is a coffee or hot chocolate lover then they are going love this! These fun little mugs will have your name on it and you won’t have to worry about not knowing whose cup is whose. It’s a cheesy little gift that shows what is yours while still enjoying a hot drink together.
Matching UMass Dartmouth Hoodies—If you both go here then this is a must, show your Corsair pride and stay warm on those chilly long days with a UMass Dartmouth sweatshirt. They are so cozy and will be a “staple” in their wardrobe.
GIFTS FOR YOUR GALENTINES:
A Collage of Memories—Get ready to DIY your own wall art! Select a bunch of your favorite photos and crafts them into a heart in the middle paste a quote that best describes them. Then allow it to dry completely overnight and place it in a frame. It is the perfect wall art for them to hang in their rooms and remember the journey you have had together so far.
Linked Together— There are so many nice little necklaces that can resemble your bond. They can range in all different prices but can be created to fit your friendship. It is the perfect way to keep connected when you are not together.
Best Friend’s Photoshoot— Plan a day and have one of your pals capture your friendship with a best friend’s photoshoot, with a Polaroid camera. Add some glitter in there and take a trip to your favorite spots from the beach, to the town and later on scrapbook your adventures.
Say it with Color: Does your bestie have a favorite color?! Then find cheap fun little things in that color such as: lotion, gum, nail polish and etc. and put together a goody bag.
GIFTS FOR SOMEONE SPECIAL:
Matching Tee-Shirts—Say it with a shirt because who doesn’t like matching t-shirts, we are not on the red carpet people, so matching is totally a must! From cute saying like “Weekend Vibes,” “Blond Best Friend, Brunette Best Friend,” and “Besties Since (And Your Year),” there is something for each type of friendship.
A Book About Us—There are so many little write in books that you can find at Francesca’s or Pier One that allows you to recreate your story with your honey, mom, bestie and more. I just know that anyone who receives these would love it because it is a gift from the heart.
Sugar Rush- Make homemade “candy kabobs” instead of fruit kabobs add some of their favorite gummy candy, a cute little treat for just about anyone.
Free Coupons—Own this Valentine’s day by handing out free coupons, this can include: a ticket for a free coffee run, back message, free take out service, free wishes, hugs and more.
These are just a few of my favorite cheap and easy Valentine’s Day gift giving ideas that are far from typical, so my best words of advice is to just have fun with it! Enjoy shopping and crafting for your sweethearts this Valentine’s Day. Happy V-Day!
