Holiday gift guide made easy

By Staff Writer Michaella Lesieur

The most wonderful time of the year is just around the corner…and no pun intended. Okay, maybe just a little bit, but it is a great song. With the holidays quickly approaching it’s time to start checking your list twice. Your holiday shopping could not be made easier with this easy to follow guide.

For Mom
Mom is there for you all season long, so make sure you get her something extra special. She works hard all year long and one way to help her relax is with a spa gift card. Treat mom to a day at the spa. This could take the shape of a gel manicure or pedicure, message, haircut, you name it.

If you are looking to DIY your own gift from the heart, why not capture your year and all the special memories you have shared together into a digital photo frame that will flip through that last vacation you went on, a trip to the beach or that car selfie. Mom will love to place this in an area that will keep these memories for a lifetime. It will bring a smile to her face and may even shed a few happy tears as well.

For Dad
For the guy who buys everything you might be thinking, “What do I get him?” You can’t go wrong with sporting tickets and you can usually find this for a good price on Vivid. You can even turn this into a group gift for your brother and dad.
Maybe your dad is one that likes to keep smelling fresh; a bottle of cologne is an easy no brainer. Get them their favorite or pick them out a new one. Hugo and Coach are just some of the brands that are featured in Macy’s men’s fragrances. Plus, at the holidays they are always adding giftpacks or free gifts so make sure you inquire.

For Your Siblings
Whether you are shopping for your sister or brother one creative gift would to be create a sibling night out package. Spending quality time with your siblings is important. You could fill the basket with a movie’s gift card, bowling gift card or anything else they would like. This is great for any age and is a wonderful way to get out and make memories.

Or maybe they have been eyeing something all year long, a favorite sweater or a pair of concert tickets. No matter how big or small those wishes are they will be grateful that you remembered that fluffy stuffed animal from six months ago.

For Your BFF’s
For your gal pals put together a themed jar. This could take the shape of a color theme, where you fill the jar with everything pink (ex. nail polish, bubble gum, pens,) or a movie theme (ex. The Nutcracker movie, candy, popcorn).
Guy friends might be a little trickier but how about a late-night owl package? This could include a coffee gift card, some of their favorite snacks and any other little treats that they would enjoy while away at college.

For Your Special Someone
Maybe you want to stray away from jewelry this year and plan a little road trip to surprise your special someone. A weekend away in New Hampshire, Martha’s Vineyard and the Cape are just a few hours away and a great winter escape.
Another fun little project would be to create a month full of date coupons. This could include restaurant gift cards, movie gift cards, ice skating gift cards and any other little dates that the two of you can do together.

For Your Employees
Don’t forget the people you work with. A simple note with a candle or bath and body little cream, body mist or hand sanitizer is a cute little way to say Happy Holidays.
Baked goods are also a great little gift to give. From gingerbread cookies, to bread loaves and peanut butter balls the options are endless.

As you enter the malls and busy shopping areas remember what the holiday season is all about. Before you spend loads of money take the time to spend time with those that you love the most, for that is what the holidays are all about!
Happy shopping and happy holidays!
